Josie (Dickerson) Heim, who shared the final years of Josiah's life as his girlfriend, was raised in Sheridan, Indiana. After graduating from high school, Josie attended Ball State University, where she met Josiah and his best friend, Zeke, in 2021. What began as a chance meeting quickly developed into a meaningful friendship, laying the foundation for a relationship that would have a lasting impact on both of their lives.

Together, Josie and Josiah shared a passion for CrossFit, exploring local coffee shops, camping, and searching for the best cinnamon rolls wherever their travels took them. Their relationship was deeply rooted in faith, and even while Josiah was away receiving treatment, they remained connected through regular FaceTime Bible studies. Josie also treasured every opportunity to visit him during his time in Texas.

To honor Josiah's memory, Josie has placed Muncie Police Department (MPD) patches, that Josiah wore during his time of service, at several of their favorite Black Rifle Coffee Company locations in Tennessee and Florida. These small tributes serve as lasting reminders of Josiah's life, faith, and the memories they created together.

As Josie reflects on Josiah's life and legacy, she is often reminded of his favorite Bible passage—a verse that continues to encourage and inspire her: "Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." Romans 5:3–5 (ESV)

When asked to describe Josiah in a single word, Josie chose endurance. "Not only in his battle with cancer, but in his spiritual life, relationships, fitness, and mindset."

Reflecting on the time they shared together, Josie mentioned: "Josiah took each challenge life threw at him and used it as an opportunity to learn and better himself. Being around him, you couldn't help but do the same."

Through their relationship, Josie witnessed firsthand the unwavering faith, patience, selflessness, and trust in God that defined Josiah's life. Those qualities continue to shape her own life, and she remains deeply grateful for the time they shared and the lasting impact he made on her heart.

Josie's hope is that Maullers Ministry Inc. will continue to reflect the endurance, character, and hope that Josiah embodied, believing that God's work through his life is far from finished. Josie often recalls Josiah saying, "If I can just reach one person through this—it's worth it."

Following Josiah's passing, Josie met her now husband, Noah, at her local CrossFit gym in Westfield, Indiana. As their friendship grew, Josie recognized many of the same qualities in Noah that she had admired in Josiah. Noah shares a deep commitment to his faith, physical fitness, and living a life of purpose. In June of 2026, Noah and Josie were married.

Together, Josie and Noah continue to honor Josiah's legacy through challenging Hero Workouts (Hero WODs) that embody the perseverance and discipline Josiah demonstrated throughout his life. Whether completing workouts such as The Murph, Chad, or "The Mauller"—a Hero WOD created in Josiah's honor—they are committed to remembering his life while inspiring others to pursue faith, resilience, and service to others.

Josie and Noah both proudly serve as Advising Board Members while Josie also serves as our foundations Secretary within Maullers Ministry Inc. Together, Josie and Noah provide thoughtful guidance and meaningful insight as the organization continues to grow, inspiring others through programs that promote physical wellness, mental resilience, spiritual growth, and compassionate support for individuals and families facing life's greatest challenges. Their dedication to honoring Josiah's legacy strengthens the foundation and helps ensure that his testimony continues to impact lives for generations to come.

Josie continues to carry forward one of Josiah's core beliefs that movement is medicine, and a privilege. Move for those who can't, take care of yourself.

During workouts and fitness events, Josie honors Josiah by wearing several of his personal morale patches on her weighted vest. More than simple keepsakes, these patches serve as meaningful reminders of the life he lived, the values he embodied, and the legacy he left behind. They also provide opportunities to share Josiah's story with others, ensuring that his testimony, faith, and enduring spirit continue to inspire those who ask about their significance.
